This is a simulation of the water-air boundary formed when my rudder is turning hard into fast-moving water. I used Solidworks flow simulation and was able to determine my rudder had way to much surface area and would rip right of my transom, so I reduced the area of my rudder and moved the center of pressure of the rudder closer to the center of the rudder shaft to reduce the torque on the planetary gearbox.
